Brooklyn Townhouse
Interiors
This gut renovation reimagines a charming 1910 three-floor brick townhouse in Brooklyn’s Windsor Terrace neighborhood, located adjacent to Prospect Park. The project focused on enhancing interior circulation for more direct access to the rear yard and basement, modernizing all systems, and introducing a refined material palette paired with custom millwork.
The design strikes a balance between preserving the home’s original character—such as moldings and flooring—and elevating it with contemporary updates. The material palette combines refinished dark wood flooring, off-white tones, and occasional bold accents for contrast.
In the living room, custom petroleum-colored millwork conceals closets and separates the space from the new staircase. The kitchen showcases sage-colored cabinets paired with elegant Breccia Capraia marble countertops. The bathroom benefits from a new skylight, filling the space with natural light, and features marble finishes around the built-in tub for a luxurious touch.
The redesigned rear yard is now directly accessible from the living room, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. Plantings along the back wall enhance the space with greenery, offering a serene retreat within the bustling city.
This thoughtful renovation blends historical charm with modern functionality, delivering a timeless yet updated living experience.
