Metamorphic Landscape Watch Store
Interiors
Product
This watch store reimagines the single-room interior as a meticulously crafted “landscape” inspired by the visceral, primordial qualities of boulders—set in stark contrast to the precision and abstraction of man-made watches. Drawing from the dramatic presence of the Utah monolith and the way watch ads often juxtapose hyper-engineered timepieces against lush natural backdrops, the design merges elemental ruggedness with refined craftsmanship.
Each display module functions as a “boulder,” formed from metal laminate and designed to appear metamorphic, subtly shifting as you walk around it. Achieved with limited means, the boulder is one single design repeated multiple times; by virtue of its aggregation, it can create myriad possibilities. These sculptural units can be added or rearranged to accommodate an ever-expanding array of Audemars Piguet, Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe, and Omega watches, while the store’s back wall features a CNC-cut boiserie that references traditional guilloché patterns. Even the desk rests atop one of these “boulders,” heightening the sense of cohesion. A similar geometry frames the window, providing a theatrical backdrop for the watches and intensifying the feeling of immersion in an otherwise compact space—all while blending nature’s inherent fluidity with the exacting precision of high-end horology.
